Strategic Alliances

The ICDF has identified a number of organizations whose aims, expertise, and scope of work are consistent with our goal of supporting cultural development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The ICDF is actively seeking to form strategic alliances with non-profit organization, multilateral agencies, embassies, public and private foundations, universities and research centers, and networks of professionals and experts.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)

In recognition of the region’s rich cultural heritage, and with the objective to provide greater support for culture in different and innovative areas, the IDB created the Inter-American Culture and Development Foundation (ICDF) thus becoming its most strategic partner.

The IDB supports the ICDF in more than one way. The partnership with the IDB helps strengthen brand loyalty and contributes to stronger customer connections. The Bank’s ample knowledge of the region adds value to the goals and objectives of the Foundation.

The ICDF’s contribution. The rationale to create a cultural foundation to foster development of cultural initiatives as a motor for social inclusion and economic development provides the Bank with an additional vehicle to address development through the cultural sector.

This initiative allows the IDB to further consolidate its external public relations, strengthen its corporate social responsibility image, and develop a more meaningful relationship with beneficiaries and clients.

The IDB Cultural Center

The ICDF and the IDB Cultural Center share a common heritage: The inspiration and support of the Inter American Development Bank and its leadership.

The Center provides financial assistance in support of small-scale cultural projects in areas where the IDB has not traditionally had a presence with strong external relations component. It also provides IDB member countries with a showcase for cultural products in Washington D.C., and supports the appreciation of the region in the non-regional countries at several levels including that of strategic information and knowledge.

The ICDF and the IDB Cultural Center have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at sharing information related to initiatives in support to culture, and to coordinate efforts to further strengthen the role of culture as a tool of development.
