March 2008. The Inter-American Culture and Development Foundation (ICDF) entered into an agreement with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Under the agreement, the two institutions will seek to strengthen the efforts of their respective organizations by exchanging information and providing mutual support to project preparation and execution.
In line with the purpose of the agreement, the Kennedy Center, with the support of the ICDF is currently organizing the South American Performing Arts Symposium that will take place on April 16-17 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mr. Michael M. Kaiser, President of the Kennedy Center, will conduct the Symposium. The event is aimed at advising performing arts organizations from the region on how to build institutional strength through marketing strategic planning and Fundraising.
February 2008. The Ministry of Culture of Colombia and the Inter-American Culture and Development Foundation (ICDF), signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining the importance of culture as an engine of social and economic development. This agreement seeks to pursue joint collaboration to coordinate projects and programs that promote understanding of cultural values, preserve the cultural heritage and ways of life in Colombia, and that enhance the management abilities of the various Colombian communities. To that end, the Minister of Culture and the ICDF will conduct activities jointly and with support from other interested entities, along the following lines of cooperation:
a) Cultural heritage: technical and institutional assistance and technology transfer to preserve Colombia’s audiovisual heritage.
b) Training programs in cultural management: technical and institutional assistance and knowledge transfer to develop distance learning programs in cultural management training.
c) Cultural and creative industries: technical and institutional assistance to promote and strengthen cultural and creative industries.
The ICDF has identified a number of organizations whose aims, expertise, and scope of work are consistent with our goal of supporting cultural development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The ICDF is actively seeking to form strategic alliances with non-profit organization, multilateral agencies, embassies, public and private foundations, universities and research centers, and networks of professionals and experts.
